Jennifer Lawrence has claimed that she missed out on a part in a Quentin Tarantino movie after critics said she ‘wasn’t pretty enough’.

The Hunger Games star is currently gearing up to reprise her role as Katniss Everdeen in the upcoming movie Sunrise on the Reaping, following the successful rollout of her psychological drama, Die My Love, alongside Robert Pattinson.

However, the 35-year-old actor was recently looking back on a part of her career which wasn’t as successful in a recent interview.

During a conversation with Josh Horowitz on the Happy, Sad, Confused podcast, Lawrence revealed she was once in contention to star in Tarantino’s 2019 comedy-western Once upon a Time… In Hollywood – but was eventually ruled out due to critical comments on her appearance.

Lawrence revealed that Tarantino had initially considered her to play the role of Sharon Tate in the Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt-led flick during a conversation about the filmmaker.

In response to Horowitz saying that Tarantino has expressed a desire to work with her, she responded: “Well, he did, and then everybody was like, ‘She’s not pretty enough to play Sharon Tate.”

Lawrence’s claims were met with disbelief by Horowitz, as she went on to add: “I’m pretty sure it is true. Or it’s that thing where I’ve been telling the story this way for so long that I believe it.

“No, but I’m pretty sure that happened. Or he just was never considering me for the part, and the internet just, like, went out of their way to call me ugly.”

The role of Sharon Tate eventually went to Margot Robbie, a casting choice which was praised by Tate’s surviving sister, Debra.

While Lawrence did not name Debra in the interview, the actor’s sister had previously said the No Hard Feelings star was not ‘pretty enough’ to play Tate.

“They are both extremely accomplished actresses, but I would have to say my pick would be Margot [Robbie],” she told TMZ in 2017.

“Simply because of her physical beauty and the way she carries herself – it’s similar to that of Sharon.

“I don’t think as much about Jennifer Lawrence, not that I have anything against her. She’s just, I don’t know, she’s not pretty enough to play Sharon. That’s a horrible thing to say, but I have my standards.”

Meanwhile, Lawrence also revealed that she’d had the opportunity to work with Tarantino prior to Once upon a Time…In Hollywood, in his 2015 film The Hateful Eight, a role which she ultimately turned down.

“I turned it down,” Lawrence admitted, after confirming that she’d been offered the part of Daisy, adding: “I should not have done [that].”
