Trending Now: This entertainment story covers the latest buzz, reactions, and updates surrounding Trending Now: Golden Globes host Nikki Glaser plans to ‘p–s off’ A-lister in opening monologue – Fans React..

As she prepares to host the Golden Globe Awards for a second year in a row, Nikki Glaser has big plans for some of the joke she is hoping to tell during the broadcast

Superstar comic Nikki Glaser has revealed she plans to “p— off” one A-lister during her monologue at The Golden Globes on Sunday, January 11.

Quick-witted Glaser has vowed to come out “swinging harder” for her second year as host, poking fun at nominees including Wicked actresses Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, as well as Leonardo DiCaprio.

The wise-cracking stand-up, who has a surprising net worth, has secretly tested out gags mocking Hollywood celebrities, including snipes about the current obsession with Ozempic and film choices. Her attitude is to serve up some controversial zingers, but not be “mean”. She knows that audiences will judge her against English star Ricky Gervais, who memorably shocked fans with cruel and vicious jibes during his five host efforts, from 2010 to 2020.

But the 41-year-old admits she’s even prepared jokes if her “nipple falls out” and should a star copy Will Smith’s infamous slap attack beating of Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars.

Glaser revealed, “There’s someone that we might come after this year, and I was thinking about what their reaction would be because I don’t think they have a good sense of humor.

“I don’t want to reveal who…I’m sorry to talk in vague terms, but it’s like picturing this person looking angry about the joke. I never want to make anyone uncomfortable. This person, I just feel like, can kind of take it.’

“This person may take themselves too seriously. And so the idea is that this person could look p****ed off at the joke ‘That is even better. So I’ve been like, ‘We need to write jokes about how this person isn’t going to laugh.

In her sights are Erivo and Grande, after she felt that in 2025, she was too gentle with them in her jokes.

“Last year, the press tour for the first Wicked, I felt these women were taking this very seriously, and Ariana’s fans don’t really have a sense of humor about Wicked.

“I got out there, and I did a couple of subtle Wicked jokes, got to make fun of it. I went pretty soft. “I looked down after I did my first joke, and they were both just like, ‘Do more’.

“I realized in retrospect, Ariana really is a funny person. I underestimated that she would have a good sense of humor. This year I can go a little bit harder.”

DiCaprio, nominated for Best Actor in One Battle After Another, will be mocked, but not for his infamous love of having girlfriends aged under 30.

“With Leonardo, we all know the joke about him not dating anyone over 25; that’s been done to death.

“He’s coming in there ready to hear that. My goal is to switch it up and not do the old cliche jokes that everyone’s heard about everyone.”

Selena Gomez is poised to be a target, too, after the Only Murders In The Building actress signed off on a joke about her husband, music producer Benny Blanco, last year.

“I just cold-called him, and he was like, ‘Let me run it by Selena, and I’ll get back to you. I felt like it might be offensive. They were both cool. They were like, ‘Selena thinks it’s funny. I think it’s hilarious. Do it.’ That was nice.”

Glaser spoke on Sirius XM before the 83rd Globes, which will air live on CBS and stream on Paramount+ on Sunday, January 11, 2025, at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT.

Glaser is scared of balancing the fine line between audiences loving her digs at stars and being x-rated, obnoxious, and vile – which she was accused of in the past at TV events.

In 2024, Glaser served up x X-rated jokes about NFL icon Tom Brady during a Netflix Roast over his divorce from ex-wife Giselle Bündchen, jiu-jitsu coach romance and teammates’ intersex gags.

Glaser confirmed her Globes gags will be more gentle than the roast, where audiences felt she was “out for blood.”

“I don’t want to ruin anyone’s night. It’s not the same as a roast, where it’s like they signed up for it. So there is a lot of trepidation going into it.

This year I have a little bit more of a runway because last year, I think everyone was just so terrified of what I would do because they’d only seen the Tom Brady roast.

“This year I’ll have a little bit more leeway just because they don’t expect me to go as hard.”

Glaser has been working on material since December and has practiced routines at comedy clubs across the US. However, she is prepared for all types of chaos, including a wardrobe malfunction or even a violent attack

“We have a safety net. We have every kind of plan in place. I go in thinking, ‘Okay, if the mic goes out, do I have a joke?’ If I slip on my dress, do I have a joke? If my nipple pops out, do I have a joke?

“We kind of looked at every award show and all the kind of faux pas. I planned for everything. Even If someone gets slapped, let’s plan for everything.

“Those are the moments that really stand out(so people think) she was still able to keep her cool and run the show when sh** went down.”

She will have no regrets even if fans call for her to be cancelled

“If it fails, it’s okay because I did everything I could to be great. My biggest struggle in this business is the regret I feel after doing something that could have been better.

“And when I’ve really prepared as much as I can, regardless of if I forget something, regardless if I say the wrong thing, if I can say, I literally did my best, then I can’t really be mad at myself. I just work my butt off for these really big moments.”

Glaser plans to reference Hollywood’s fascination with weight loss drugs, as well as the anger of slender celebrities who are now outnumbered by many stars who are lean.

“Thin people feel like, ‘I’ve worked for this. I’ve gone to the gym. I don’t overeat. You’ve got to stab yourself in the stomach, and you have diarrhea until you die. It doesn’t sound easy.’

“I had this joke about all the thin people say, ‘Stay fat, diabetics need their medicine.’ Suddenly, all these thin housewives were really up in arms for diabetics whom they never cared about in the history of diabetes – you just don’t want Kelly Clarkson to have a thigh gap for some reason.”

While confident and razor-sharp on stage, Glaser, who has shunned Hollywood for life, is uncomfortable and nervous in star-studded events.

“I am insecure in every way in my life. My worth is determined by whether people perceive me in a certain way. And so, as much as I try, I try to get that out, but that has always been in me.

“I wanted to be an actress. I wanted to be Jennifer Aniston. I wanted to be Britney Spears. That’s all so deeply ingrained in my head. There’s also this insecurity that as a comedian, I’m on stage for an hour talking to a microphone with no dancing, no singing, no screens, no lights.

“It’s a lot to ask people to stare at something that long, especially in our day and age with TikTok and attention spans. So I’m always like, Let me give them something to look at.

“I do feel like there’s a pressure on me to be presentable in a way, especially when people are paying so much for tickets to look dressed up, or if you get bored, you can look at my legs or my boobs, or to just give them something to look at.”

Glaser spoke to the podcast Let’s Talk Off Camera, where she also admitted feeling “such a disappointment” around comics and stars.

“I kind of get quiet because I’m like, I don’t want them to feel like they have to talk to me. Recently, I got feedback from someone who was very excited to sit next to me, someone who I thought would never even know who I was. And they had told a person who told a person that they were really disappointed and how boring I was.

“My boyfriend always tells me, like, ‘Just remember these people are excited to meet you. They know you and just as being on screen and all the things you’ve done.’

“We were at the Vanity Fair Oscar party last year, and I just wanted to get out of there. And he was like, ‘We’re not leaving until you go up to someone and tell them what they mean to you.’

“Thankfully, Patrick Schwarzenegger walked in. The perfect person because he’s kind of new, not tired of this yet, so I could lavish him with compliments.”
