CBS has fans calling them out on online, with many questioning when some of the television network’s most beloved programs will be back on-air amid the show’s prolonged hiatus

CBS drama program Fire Country ignited their fanbase to speak out over their long unexplained hiatus, having many question if the show would soon resume.

Fire Country along with its spinoff series Sheriff Country are some of the most well-awaited shows that haven’t returned from their extended winter breaks. Each of the shows’ mid-season finales aired on December 15, and neither are scheduled to be back on-air until February 27. One wrote under an Instagram post spotlighting the previous episode, “It’s been forever, is this show ever coming back?”

Fire Country is scheduled to return with a fifth season as revealed last month. Also, for the upcoming season, the series is also getting a new showrunner after Tia Napolitano left, according to Deadline.

Meanwhile, Sheriff Country was renewed for Season 2 as announced on Instagram in December. Fire Country was the number one most-watched series in 2022, and 2023, and its spinoff looks to be on the same path of success.

CBS hasn’t addressed the reason behind the long hiatus, but it’s speculated that the network was trying to avoid competing with the Winter Olympics coverage.

The Winter Olympics, which is scheduled to be from February 6 to February 22, is expected to dominate NBC and Peacock’s TV line-up until the competition is officially over.

So since the Winter Olympics is still ongoing, and all of the other shows on CBS’ primetime schedule have also paused airing new episodes, it’s most likely because of the Winter Games.

Sheriff Country is slated to premiere first on February 27 at 8:00 p.m. EST, and the forthcoming episode will be titled, “Crucible: Part 2,” continuing where it concluded, which was with the attack on the sheriff’s department.

While Fire Country will come on at 9:00 p.m. with “On the Carpet,” which is set to see “a massive wildfire pushes station 49 to their limits,” according to a synopsis of the episode.

In addition to Fire Country and Sheriff Country, other shows that will premiere that week include Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage, Ghosts, Matlock, Elsbeth, and Boston Blue.

Also, there will be new shows set to debut, including the crime series Harlan Coben’s Final Twist, the police procedural drama CIA, and the cooking battle series America’s Culinary Cup.

Lastly, the shows also scheduled to return earlier next week are The Neighborhood, DMV, FBI, NCIS, NCIS: Origins, and NCIS: Sydney.
