In this week’s dance-off, Kavanagh took on the Tango to the Destiny’s Child anthem, Survivor, while UK Apprentice star Jordan Dargan fought his case to the tune of Story of My Life by One Direction.

Despite quick-stepping his way to the top end of the leader board, Jordan found himself in the bottom two, but was unanimously saved by all four judges, and is through to the 100th episode of the show.

Before the closing of the show, Kavanagh described her professional dance partner, Steven Vincent, as “magnificent” and commended his patience.

She said that the toughest moments of her journey, “without a doubt,” were the first few weeks.

“As much as I was enjoying it, I was drawing blanks in my memory because I was so in my head,” she said.

“The reason that I hadn’t said yes [to doing the show] for such a long time was because I have told myself for over forty years that I can’t dance – I would urge as many people as possible to find their joy in dance,” she added.

The musician (58) said she hopes that her decision to learn something new a little later in life will “empower people to embrace whatever they thing might make them happy.”

She said that while the experience was well outside the perimeter of her comfort-zone, it has left her feeling “so excited” in terms of what she might turn her hand to next.

“I have found that energy that I used to have,” she said.

“I’d like to think that people understood the joy that I was finding in dance, and in seeing that, they forgave the fact that I wasn’t as accomplished of a dancer, as I am a singer,” she added.

Niamh was placed third for the bottom, so it was somewhat of a surprise that she has been voted off the show.

Rose of Tralee Katelyn Cummins once again wowed the judges with her version of the Rumba, scoring 39 points out of a possible 40.
