After a year of being on Power 987’s airwaves, Dr. Mbuyiseni Ndlozi is leaving the station.

The former politician joined the radio station as the host of Power Talk weekdays from 9:00 to 12:00.

Ndlozi first broke the news to his loyal listeners during a show, and many have tried to persuade him, unsuccessfully, to change his mind about leaving the station.

Power 987 has announced that South African journalist and former editor-in-chief of City Press, Mondli Makhanya, will be the new host of Power Talk as of March 2, 2026.

Ndlozi gave a warm welcome to Makhanya on Tuesday’s show and told listeners that the veteran journalist would be filling in his shoes and wished him well.

Power 987, in a statement, thanked Ndlozi for bringing his voice to POWER Talk and for stepping behind the mic after his time in Parliament to continue serving the nation.

Apart from being on the airwaves, Ndlozi hosts the African Renaissance Podcast, a Thabo Mbeki Foundation platform, dedicated to promoting the rebirth of the African continent and inspiring its people to take charge of their destiny as they build a free and dignified continent.

Makhanya is one of South Africa’s most respected editorial leaders and commentators, with more than 36 years in journalism.

Power Talk airs Monday to Friday from 9:00to 12:00, and Mondli Makhanya will be on air effective March 2, 2026.
