Vanessa Bauer’s beau getting down on one knee was enough to take her breath away, but we can’t get over the scenic backdrop he chose for his romantic proposal.
The Dancing on Ice pro has revealed her engagement after her beau, former footballer James Rowe, popped the question in the most epic way.
It’s no secret Vanessa loves to skate, and after Dancing on Ice’s axing in March 2025, she took herself off to Canada to partake in some ice skating in the wild.
The 29-year-old has been sharing the most beautiful snippets of her dancing on ice (pardon the pun), so it was a no-brainer for James to propose to his love in her natural habitat.
On Saturday, Vanessa shared gorgeous photos from the romantic moment. It looks as though she and James had been skating around a frozen lake when all of a sudden she looked back, and he had dropped to one knee.
Looking cosy in the perfect winter knit, Vanessa is seen beaming from ear to ear as James, in front of her and down on one knee, declares his love for her.
The backdrop boasts the rolling, snow-covered mountain tops of Alberta and some densely packed forestry. A true winter wonderland!
The scene looked incredible on camera, so we can’t even fathom how beautiful it looked in real life.
Another photo shows Vanessa and James embracing in a hug as she shows off her new bling while he kisses her forehead. ‘The love of my life. We’re getting married,’ she wrote.
A third shows the couple hand-in-hand, literally skating off into the sunset. What a way to start 2026. Eh, Vanessa!?
A host of well-known faces flocked to the comments section to congratulate the happy couple, with Vanessa’s Dancing on Ice troupe, including Sonny Jay, Brendyn Hatfield and Annette Dytrt, leading the way.
Speaking about her proposal to OK! magazine, Vanessa said: ‘It was such a dream. I’ve wanted to skate on the frozen lakes my whole life, so it was just the perfect place to get engaged.
‘I just wanted to hug him, so I was like, “Yes, of course I’m going to marry you. Now come up here and give me a hug!”‘
James and Vanessa confirmed their romance publicly in December 2024 during a trip to Lapland. Before her romance with James, Vanessa reportedly dated her Dancing on Ice partner, Joey Essex, briefly in 2023.
