EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — In our KTSM 9 News series “Walk in the Park,” I talk to successful and impactful people around the Borderland.
For this segment, I got the chance to chat with a very successful dancer, who has danced his way to the big screen. He shared the spotlight most recently with actress and singer Jennifer Lopez. Meet Armando Eleazar.
Q: You are a famous dancer now, especially after dancing with so many celebrities. can you tell us more about that?
Eleazar: I’ve, I’ve danced with, Bad Bunny, Karol G and now recently with J-Lo. and outside of that, there’s, you know, all these different projects, but those are like, the bigger ones that have happened recently. I’m originally from Paris, and then I moved to a paso around like 14, 15 with my family. And then in 19, I moved to L.A. to start pursuing my career.
Q: How much hard work went into becoming who you are today?
Eleazar: Oh, my God, I honestly yeah, it’s it’s been pretty crazy. Yeah. Someone you asked me up in ups and downs. You know, it’s a crazy career. And, you know, when the times are really good that they’re really good, and then when they’re not, they’re really not, you know, and, I think it was important to have, you know, the support of my family and also be surrounded by people that are following the same passion.
Q: Can you talk to us a little bit about what a typical day in you life looks like when dancing with these celebrities?
Eleazar: I mean, for that, usually those rehearsals go for like eight hours. and then so, you know, for example, everything that I’ve done where I guess that bunny Karol G. All of those jobs have been in New York. So, you know, it’s about flying to New York, you know, waking up, getting on the subway, going to rehearsal, you know, from there from 10 to 6, usually you get back, you just like, have time to like, you know, relax a little bit and go to bed and then do the same thing the next day. They’re really fun.
Q: So most recently, you were filmed in the movie with J-Lo. Tell us more about that.
Eleazar: There’s a new movie called Kiss the Spider Woman. J-Lo is the spider woman, and she leads that. So when she’s there, we’re kind of there. We’re, you know, her body of dancers. And we moved around. We move around with her as the story goes.
Q: What would you say to someone who has the the same kind of goals as you, but they’re just maybe a little scared or maybe hesitant to take that first step. What advice can you offer?
Eleazar: Think you should just explore your passion first, and then once you get to the point where you have to make hard decisions, then you get there. But yeah, lead with passion and just believing in yourself. And it’s, you know, we do things I think like as far as art goes, I think we do it for the love and for for the feeling that we get out of it. So ultimately, you should follow the feeling instead, more so than, you know, anything else that is kind of, you know, around you.
