The Rose Ball 2026, held in support of the Princess Grace Foundation, delivered its usual high-glamour spectacle, even in the absence of Charlotte Casiraghi, with a guest list that leaned into statement dressing at every turn.

Maximalist Drama In Full Effect
Lady Kitty Spencer wore a 2019 Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda gown styled with Dolce & Gabbana Alta Gioielleria jewellery, and this look is nothing if not a visual feast. The skirt alone warrants a second look, embroidered all over with a recreation of Jacques-Louis David’s 1788 painting The Loves of Paris and Helen, wrapping the entire silhouette in a scene drawn from Greek mythology. That level of detail already gives the gown a strong narrative before you even get to the heavily embellished bodice. Then come the red feathered sleeves – bold, spiky, and impossible to ignore – which push the look further into statement territory. For me, this is where the look tips over the edge, as the intensity of the sleeves is too much.

Soft Satin, Strong Delivery
Charles Leclerc and Alexandra Leclerc made a striking pair, but Alexandra’s custom Nina Ricci gown easily stole focus. The blush-toned satin, draped off the shoulder with floral accents, feels elegant and effortless, striking just the right balance for the occasion. Styled with an Amina Muaddi Camelia clutch and Ailes jewellery, this was, without question, the strongest look of the night refined, flattering, and perfectly pitched for the occasion.

Overwhelmed And Underwhelming
Beatrice Borromeo wore Dior Spring 2026 Haute Couture, and I found myself wishing she had taken a solo moment, because this look needed space to be fully appreciated. That said, even with breathing room, I’m not convinced it would have landed. The exaggerated volume feels heavy, yet the overall impact somehow falls flat. It sounds contradictory, but that’s exactly the issue. It’s doing a lot, yet not delivering where it counts.

Chiffon Done Right
Princess Charlene of Monaco, as always, delivered one of the most memorable moments of the evening in Elie Saab Haute Couture. The softly draped chiffon, delicate embellishment and a fluid silhouette, brings an ease that contrasts beautifully with the more overworked looks on this carpet. It’s elegant, it’s flattering, and it reminds you that simplicity, when executed well, still holds power.

Familiar Codes, Less Impact
Princess Caroline of Monaco stayed loyal to Chanel, wearing a Spring 2024 Haute Couture design by Virginie Viard. Even with the addition of an Armani sequin blazer, the look never quite reached the level of gala glamour I expect from her at this event. It felt more subdued than celebratory. Standing alongside Christian Louboutin, who always brings personality to the carpet, the contrast only made the look feel even more muted.

Soft Layers, Gentle Finish
Princess Alexandra of Hanover wore a Prada grey-blue silk chiffon robe, delicately embroidered with crystals and sequins, layered over a matching satin slip dress. Paired with a coordinating satin pouch and Prada Couleur Vivante pendant earrings, the look may not command attention, but there’s a quiet elegance here that works in its own lane, even if it does feels a bit too mature for her.
