The Hollywood Reporter’s Annual Women in Entertainment Gala is one of the few red carpet events where glamour unfolds before lunchtime. With the sun barely up, the industry’s most influential women arrived in looks offering a fascinating study in how to dress for a morning event.

Elevated Ease
I have to say, I’m really enjoying this new style direction from Jennifer Lopez. She’s still very much herself — the allure hasn’t gone anywhere — but there’s a newfound sophistication in this Harithand draped chocolate brown suit. It’s sexy in a measured way. She’s in her “take me seriously era” but she hasn’t gone so far left like Jessie Buckley. Styled with a Tyler Ellis Lee Lineage clutch, Gianvito Rossi pumps, Hearts On Fire earrings and layered Bvlgari Tubogas necklaces, the look hit the perfect note for a morning gala.

Soft Structure
Chase Infiniti wore a Proenza Schouler Irma draped dress, a beautifully fluid moment. And I like how she muted the cut-out making this a more understated choice for the morning event.

Quiet Chic, Morning Edition
We all know Dakota Johnson loves a sheer, slinky, slightly mischievous fashion moment after dark, but for a breakfast event she wisely shifted gears. Her Khaite Lotte dress that leans into the label’s signature ease: streamlined, unfussy, without trying to reinvent her wheel. Khaite Jett pumps and Sophie Buhai Lou Lou drop earrings completed her look.

Sleek Simplicity
Gwyneth Paltrow wore a boucle dress from her own label, Gwyn — the rebrand of G. Label — proving she remains her own best muse. The ivory dress paired with red pumps delivered an unfussy but effective look that felt very Gwyneth.

Morning Shine
Kerry Washington chose a textured Simkhai Zander jacquard bustier top and Vionna skirt that found its charm in the layered detailing, while metallic silver Kurt Geiger pumps and a Jeffrey Levinson mirrored clutch added a glint of morning glamour.

Retro Charm
Rachel Sennott leaned into her playful, throwback sensibility with a bold red suit that feels straight out of the ’80s — punchy, confident, a little bit “power-breakfast with attitude.” The gold Manolo Blahnik Paloma sandals and Valentino Garavani Devain bag kept the vibe fun.

Modern Textures
Selma Blair took an interesting route in a Tod’s Fall 2025 dress that plays with contrast — part leather, part knit — creating a sleek, sculpted silhouette without feeling heavy for a morning event. The mix of materials gives the look depth, while David Webb jewels added a refined finishing touch.
