The actress was gearing up to shoot Season 2 of Apple TV+’s The Studio. She ended up pulling out just days before her death, noting “personal matters” as the reason.

The schedule was “reworked … to focus on scenes without her character.”

Alongside a star-studded cast, which included Zoë Kravitz, Seth Rogen, and Kathryn Hahn, Catherine O’Hara played seasoned Hollywood executive Patty Leigh in the satire show. Her portrayal earned her an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series last year.

Following her sudden death, the cast and crew have paid tribute to the star.

Within a joint statement, they said, “We are at a loss for words at the passing of our friend Catherine O’Hara. She was a hero to all of us, and we pinched ourselves every day that we got to work with her on The Studio. She was somehow classy, warm, and hilarious all at once. We’re unbelievably saddened she is gone and send our deepest sympathy to Bo and all her family.”

Catherine is widely known for her contributions to Hollywood.

In the early 1970s, she rose to fame through Toronto’s Second City improvisation troupe, which led to her becoming an original cast member of the sketch comedy show SCTV.

The actress went on to star in hit films like Beetlejuice, Waiting for Guffman, and Home Alone.

In an August 2024 interview with Elle Canada, she was very grateful for a long, successful career.

“I’m lucky [I get] to keep doing things like this at my age — I can’t believe it,” she said.
