Andy Cohen got called out by former New York City mayor Eric Adams in a scathing post shared on X on Thursday, Jan. 1.
“My response to @Andy: AA,” Adams wrote on X. “Another sloppy drunken rant. If anyone actually cares about him, they’ll tell him to get help. New Yorkers aren’t laughing with him. They are concerned about him. Public intoxication is a disease. He should seek help. He was safe in Times Square because we did our job. Again. Seek help. AAA: Andy’s Alcohol Anonymous.”
The reply came just hours after Cohen took an opportunity to send Adams a very public message on CNN while hosting the network’s annual New Year’s Eve countdown alongside pal Anderson Cooper.
“Watching the final moments of Mayor Adams’ chaotic, horrible [term] … I just want to say, he got his pardons,” Cohen, a longtime resident of New York City, said into the camera, according to Fox News. “You got your pardons, go off in the sunset, we’ll fiddle with what we have, with what you left us with. Go dance away, we’ll see you at all the parties. You’ve partied your way through four years.”
Many X users responded to Adams’ post, with several agreeing with his comments.
Cohen and Cooper have been known to let loose on New Year’s Eve and both consume alcohol while on air. Many people find the twosome hilarious and really enjoy tuning in to watch them each year, but others—including Adams—apparently feel differently.
