Ashton Kutcher praised ex-wife Demi Moore in a rare comment.

The 47-year-old actor has been doing promo for his new upcoming FX show, The Beauty. During an interview with Entertainment Tonight alongside costars Anthony Ramos and Jeremy Pope, the Ghost star came up and he commended Demi for her critically acclaimed role in the 2024 body horror movie The Substance.

“I mean, one, Demi’s performance in The Substance obviously she got extraordinary accolades, I’m so proud of her, she killed it,” Ashton said in the interview in response to ET’s asking them if they see any comparisons to The Substance that people have been making.

Ashton and the 63-year-old actress first dated in 2003 and married in 2005. The former couple broke up in November 2011 and finalized their divorce in 2013.

In 2019, Demi had alleged that Ashton committed infidelity in her memoir Inside Out. Following the release of Demi’s memoir, Ashton made an appearance on Marc Manon’s WTF with Marc Maron, in which he expressed there was no bad blood between him and Demi.

He told the comedian that there’s “no badness” with them, but they “don’t hang out.” Ashton added that he’s made a “conscious effort to stay in touch” with Demi’s three daughters, Rumer, 37, Scout, 34, and Tallulah, 31, whom she shares with ex-husband Bruce Willis.

“I was helping raise teenage girls through their adolescence. I love them,” the former Punk’d host elaborated. “I’m never going to stop loving them and respecting them and honoring them and rooting for them to be successful in whatever they are pursuing.”

The relationship between Ashton and Demi seemed to remain amicable, as Demi appeared in an AT&T Super Bowl commercial in 2022 alongside Ashton’s wife, Mila Kunis. The commercial references the fact that the two are connected through Ashton.

In the ad, which takes place at a high school reunion, Mila, as her character, said “we have a lot in common” to Demi, saying she didn’t know they went to the same high school.

Ashton and Mila have been married since 2015 and began dating in 2012 following his split from Demi. Ashton and the 42-year-old actress have known each other since they met on the set of That ‘70s Show in 1998.

The pair share two children: daughter Wyatt Isabelle, 11, and son Dimitri Portwood, 9.

According to The Beauty’s synopsis, Aston is playing a “shadowy tech billionaire who has secretly engineered a miracle drug dubbed ‘The Beauty’ who will do anything to protect his trillion-dollar empire.” The drug, which is supposed to make people beautiful, has terrible side effects.

Ryan Murphy’s series is Ashton’s first project since he took a three-year break from acting. His last project was the 2023 rom-com Your Place or Mine.

The Substance, directed by Coralie Fargeat, is about a fading celebrity (Lily-Rose Depp) who is fired on her 50th birthday by her boss (Dennis Quaid) because of her age. This causes her to use a black market drug that produces a younger version of herself (Margaret Qualley), with horrifying side effects as well as consequences.

Demi’s performance in the body horror film earned her various nominations and awards including a Golden Globe Award, a Actor Award (formerly called the SAG Award), a Critics’ Choice Award.

The Beauty premieres on FX January 21.
