Angelina Jolie could potentially be leaving the United States for abroad. The mother of six has talked about wanting to leave Los Angeles once all of her children turn 18

Angelina Jolie could be leaving America.

Speculation appeared to stem from the 50-year-old actress preparing to sale her historic home in Los Angeles. Back in August 2025, it was reported that Angelina was planning to sell the property. Jolie bought the famed home in 2017 for $24.5 million, the home was purchased by director Cecil B. DeMille in 1916.

A source told PEOPLE at the time that she is exploring options abroad to relocate as she “never wanted to live in LA” but had to because of the custody arrangement with ex-husband Brad Pitt. The former couple share six children: Maddox, 23, Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 17. Angelina filed for divorce from Brad in 2016 and they reached a divorce settlement in December 2024 after a eight-year-battle.

In the August 2024, Angelina offered insight to the Hollywood Reporter on if she’ll stay in LA when her children grow up.

The Salt star said, “I grew up in this town. I am here because I have to be here from a divorce, but as soon as they’re 18, I’ll be able to leave. When you have a big family, you want them to have privacy, peace, safety. I have a house now to raise my children, but sometimes this place can be … that humanity that I found across the world is not what I grew up with here.”

Angelina went on to say after she leaves LA, “I’ll spend a lot of time in Cambodia. I’ll spend time visiting my family members wherever they may be in the world.”

During a conversation at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival in February 2025, she shared that the Southeast Asian nation is the one place “in my heart” that she considers to be home. Angelina reportedly has a home in Cambodia that she purchased after adopting her eldest in 2002, where she also purchased 148,000 acres to transform into a wildlife reserve.

Along with speculation that she is moving out of America, there have been rumors that Angelina is dealing with financial troubles. The Daily Mail reported that the Unbroken director sold her longtime New York City apartment. According to documents obtained by the outlet, Angelina got rid of the Upper West Side property on July 18, 2025 but the sale wasn’t recorded until August 4.

The rumors appeared to stem from her on-going legal battle with Brad over Miravel, the wine estate the former couple co-owned, which is said to be expensive.

Angelina sold her 50% share of the estate to Tenute del Mondo, the wine division of the Stoli Group owned by billionaire Yuri Shefler, in 2021. Then, Brad filed a $35 million lawsuit against Angelina in February 2022, alleging she had finalized the deal despite their mutual agreement that neither would go ahead without the other’s approval.

The Daily Mail also mentioned that the pair’s non-profit, the Jolie-Pitt Foundation, is not doing well financially, according to legal documents they’ve obtained. The organization’s 2024 tax return showed they have negative $473,853 listed as the total for their revenue and expenses per books and negative $476,343 for their income-producing activities. However, the end of year assets amounted to $1,618,205.

Angelina is also dealing with another legal battle over her NoHo boutique, Atelier Jolie. An art gallery, named Atelier Jolie Gallery, in Pennsylvania filed an opposition to Angelina’s trademark in July 2024. Per a court filing seen by outlet, the two parties have requested for a three-moth suspension of legal proceedings since they both “continue to be engaged in settlement discussions.”

Other big name stars have already left America, specifically LA, for international locations such as Ellen DeGeneres and George Clooney. Ellen moved with wife Portia moved to Cotswolds in the United Kingdom as a response to Donald Trump winning the 2024 presidential election and his second term.

In July 2025, the comedian had a conversation with broadcaster Richard Bacon at the Everyman theatre in nearby Cheltenham. He asked her if the reports she moved to UK because of Trump were true and she said, “Yes.”

George Clooney, his wife Amal Clooney and their 8-year-old twins, Alexander and Ella, were recently given French citizenship.

In an October 2025 profile with Esquire, he explained the relocation was due to his children and how they have a “much better” life on their French farm. He shared that he had concerns “about raising our kids in LA, in the culture of Hollywood.”

“I felt like they were never going to get a fair shake at life. France – they kind of don’t give a s— about fame. I don’t want them to be walking around worried about paparazzi. I don’t want them being compared to somebody else’s famous kids,” the actor added.
