Missing Lancaster Teen: Family Urges Immediate Return of 15-Year-Old

LANCASTER, S.C. — Authorities and family members are asking for the immediate return of Tanner Hunter, a 15-year-old Lancaster teen who has been reported missing after last being seen earlier this week.

According to information provided to law enforcement, Tanner was last seen on Wednesday Jan. 28, 2026, in the 1100 block of Ninth Street in Lancaster, wearing a brown Nike hoodie and blue jeans. He is described as 5 feet 10 inches tall and approximately 180 pounds.

The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that Tanner has been entered as a missing juvenile and is actively seeking information regarding his whereabouts.

Family members believe Tanner may currently be staying with older acquaintances and are urging anyone who may be assisting or housing him to ensure his immediate and safe return.

Tanner Hunter, MISSING from Lancaster, SC

Under South Carolina law, a 15-year-old cannot legally live independently, and adults who knowingly assist in keeping a runaway minor from their parents may expose themselves to criminal liability, including potential charges related to harboring a runaway or contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Tanner’s parents have emphasized that their primary concern is his safety, not punishment, and are asking that he be brought home voluntarily by 6 PM on Sunday February 1st, 2026. No questions asked.

“If Tanner is returned safely, we just want him home,” a family representative said. “But if he is not returned, his parents will have no choice but to pursue all legal options available to them.”

Law enforcement officials stress that the situation can be resolved quickly and without further escalation if Tanner is returned promptly.

Anyone with information about Tanner Hunter’s location is asked to contact the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office at 803-283-3388 (Option 4). Tips may be provided directly to investigators. Or confidentially contact the CC News Network who will help arrange his return home.

Authorities remind the public that sharing verified information can help ensure a safe outcome for everyone involved.
