Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Michael Leon Thomas, a Black male, Thursday night following an investigation into an alleged grand theft and identity-related fraud scheme, according to official booking records.

Mr. Thomas was taken into custody on December 26, 2025, by Agency 01 — the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities report that he is suspected of Grand Theft of Property valued between $750 and $5,000, along with Uttering a False Bank Bill, Note, Check, or Draft, and Fraudulent Impersonation involving the use or possession of another person’s identification without consent.

Law enforcement officials did not release specific details regarding the alleged transactions, the victim or victims involved, or the location where the offenses are believed to have occurred. Investigators also did not indicate whether the case is connected to a broader financial fraud investigation.

Under Florida law, grand theft and identity fraud offenses may carry felony penalties, depending on the value of the property involved, the number of victims, and prior criminal history. Prosecutors will review the evidence to determine whether formal charges will be filed.

No injuries were reported in connection with the alleged offenses. Court records will ultimately determine how the case proceeds.

As with all criminal cases, Mr. Thomas is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

The Boca Raton Tribune will continue to monitor this case and report further developments as verified information becomes available.
