Ambala: Superintendent of Police Ambala Ajit Singh Shekhawat, while addressing media persons here on 31st December 2025 Ambala, said Police has taken strict action against criminals in 2025, curbing crime. He said 4945 criminals were apprehended during the year during Ambala Police launched special campaigns from time to time to tighten the noose on criminals and put them behind bars. He said in 2024, 4945 cases were registered, while this year 4,578 cases were registered, witnessing a decrease of 365 compared to the previous year, as such this year the crime rate in Ambala district has significantly decreased in which Police has taken strict legal action against 4945 apprehended 4,945 anti-social elements, which included 17 most wanted criminals were arrested. Shekhawat said accused in cybercrime cases were also arrested and lakhs of rupees were recovered from them, besides 196 POs/bail jumpers were also arrested by Police.
SP Ambala disclosed that Police took action in various cases, including the arrest of 77 accused in 27 cases of organized crime and murder. Seven of the nine blind murder cases were solved, including the Sahil Bisht murder case at Shahzadpur police station, the murder of a husband and wife by a gym trainer at Ambala City police station, the murder of a mother by her two daughters at Ambala City police station and the recovery of a deceased woman’s body at Mahesh Nagar police station. Shekhawat further disclosed that 86 criminals were arrested in 36 cases of attempted murder. 176 criminals were sent to jail in 123 cases of snatching/robbery/dacoity. 26 criminals were arrested in 27 cases of extortion. In 52 cases of illegal arms smuggling 72 criminals were arrested from them 26 pistols, 17 country-made pistols, knives, magazines, and cartridges were recovered. As told to the media Ambala Police achieved a major success this year by apprehending 17 most wanted criminals. Similarly, in 97 cybercrime cases, 126 accused were arrested from various states and Rs 98,12,850 was recovered from them, marking a significant achievement. Ambala Police took action against 3 professional drug traffickers during the year 2025 registering 149 cases and arrested 286 accused. Drugs worth crores of rupees were seized. SP Shekhawat said Ambala Police conducted continuous special campaigns to nab drug traffickers and periodically launched special awareness campaigns to educate youth about staying away from drugs. housebreaking/snatching/vehicle theft/animal theft and other cases. Ambala Police also arrested 638 accused in 461 cases of fraud and initiated legal action against them. Economic Offences Wing, Ambala took action in 42 cases of fraud during year 2025, arrested 89 accused, recovered approximately Rs. 5 crore 18 lakh 68 thousand 800, and took strict legal action against the accused. 5 accused involved in illegal liquor/gambling/betting were arrested and lakhs of rupees and illegal liquor were recovered from them by Police.
Taking action under the Gambling Act, 188 cases were registered by Police in 2025, in which 435 accused were arrested and Rs 17,32,359 was recovered from them. Similarly, 104 cases were registered under the Excise Act during the year, in which 120 accused were arrested, and a large quantity of illicit liquor was seized from them. The Cyber Cell Ambala team, using cyber technology, recovered 286 lost mobile phones of the general public in 2025 of value worth approximately Rs 58,51,000 and returned them to the concerned persons, bringing smiles to their faces.
The Superintendent of Police, Ambala, stated that a list of professional drug smugglers is being prepared and strict action is being taken against them.
