Cham Nimul, Minister of Commerce (MoC) and Kao Kim Hourn, Secretary-General of ASEAN, Wednesday reaffirmed their commitment to advance regional economic integration, focusing on priority deliverables, digital economy negotiations and private sector support.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Cambodia-ASEAN Business Summit 2026, in Phnom Penh on March 4.
According to an MoC announcement, both sides exchanged views on several key agenda items, including the Priority Economic Deliverables under the Philippines’ ASEAN Chairmanship this year and the evolving geo-economic landscape affecting the region.
They also reviewed progress in negotiations on the ASEAN Digital Economy Framework Agreement, which aims to strengthen regional digital integration and facilitate cross-border trade.
In addition, the discussion touched on measures to help the private sector maximise benefits from various free trade agreements to which ASEAN is a party, as well as preparations for the 32nd ASEAN Economic Ministers’ Retreat.
