Bloomberg has appointed Lovejeet Alexander as its new director, new economy, marking a significant addition to its leadership team in India. Alexander, who transitions from his role as head of public affairs, corporate communications and strategic alliances at the Learning Leadership Foundation, will drive the new economy initiative’s efforts to engage with high-level leaders across business and government sectors.
“I am pleased to share that I have joined Bloomberg as Director, New Economy,” Alexander posted on his LinkedIn. “Bloomberg’s work at the intersection of markets, policy, and global economic transformation sets a global benchmark for independent, fact-based journalism and convening.”
In his new capacity, Alexander will report to David Hearn, global head of government partnerships and forums at Bloomberg Media. His mandate focuses on advancing the Bloomberg New Economy initiative from India, a platform established in 2018 to track the shift of economic power toward the Global South. Alexander noted that he looks forward to “engaging with leaders across business and government as part of this global platform.”
The move highlights Bloomberg’s commitment to providing a stage for Indian perspectives as the country navigates complex transitions in digitalisation, energy, and supply chain resilience. Alexander brings extensive experience to the role, having previously served as Editor-in-Chief and CEO of founderINDIA and held senior positions at the Anand Group of Industries.
Alexander began his professional journey in journalism, with reporting roles at leading media houses including the Times Group, Hindustan Times, Dainik Jagran, and Sahara Media, covering business, economy, politics, and international affairs.
A central focus for the initiative will be the 2026 Bloomberg New Economy Forum, which is slated to take place in New Delhi from October 13 to 15, 2026. Alexander described this as “a key moment for the initiative,” emphasising that the event “underscores the country’s growing role in shaping global economic outcomes.”
