NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday held a conversation with Acting President of Venezuela Delcy Rodríguez, during which the two leaders discussed ways to strengthen bilateral ties. In a post on X, PM Modi said, “Spoke with Acting President of Venezuela, Ms. Delcy Rodríguez. We agreed to further deepen and expand our bilateral partnership in all areas, with a shared vision of taking India-Venezuela relations to new heights in the years ahead.”
According to a press release by the ministry of external affairs, the two leaders agreed to further expand and deepen the India-Venezuela partnership in areas including trade and investment, energy, digital technology, health, agriculture and people-to-people ties. They also agreed to remain in touch. This was the first conversation between PM Modi and Rodríguez since her assumption of the acting presidency. Rodríguez became interim president of Venezuela on January 5, two days after her predecessor Nicolás Maduro was seized by US forces to face trial in New York.
