India on Saturday issued an advisory for passengers stranded at airports in UAE amid escalating conflict in the Middle East after US-Israel-Iran strikes.
In an advisory issued late on Saturday, the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi said the embassy and the consulate are in touch with UAE authorities.
“The Embassy and Consulate are in touch with the UAE authorities and airlines for taking care of the Indian passengers stranded at the airports in UAE due to temporary and precautionary airspace closure,” the advisory said.
The embassy said that the UAE government and airline authorities have reassured full support to the Indian government.
The advisory comes in the wake of Iranian retaliatory attacks targetting US bases in the Middle East, including Dubai, Doha, Riyadh, Bahrain and Kuwait, prompting airliners to suspend flights to and from the region.
The airspace over the Middle East remains largely shut even as explosions continue to be reported in UAE and neighbouring countries. Several passengers were left stranded at Abu Dhabi and Dubai airport, key travel and transit hubs, following flight operations.
“I came to Abu Dhabi to attend a friend’s party over the weekend, and we are stuck here. Right now we are at the airport. Many alarms went off at the airport, and as the news suggests, some missiles have landed. Missile attacks have also taken place,” Sanjeev Mehta, an Indian passenger stranded at the airport, told ANI.
