Nitesh Tiwari’s ‘Ramayana’ ranks among the top eagerly awaited Hindi films for compelling reasons. Featuring Ranbir Kapoor and Yash as protagonists, it delivers a massive punch via its soundtrack. This project boasts AR Rahman’s inaugural team-up with Hans Zimmer, the Oscar-winning Indian maestro. Recently, in an interview, Rahman opened up about crafting the score.

Sessions with Hans Zimmer

Talking about his collaboration with Hans Zimmer, Rahman said, “We did a couple of sessions. I’m due for the intro promo. It’s going fine for both of us (laughs). We’re scoring something iconic and important. He had a soundscape, and I added Sanskrit words to the end.”

Innovation challenges

Highlighting the challenge of reimagining a familiar epic for Indian audiences, Rahman noted, “What’s complicated is this is an epic that every Indian knows, and we have to give them something new, from India to the world. We had to unlearn some things and also imbibe qualities that are there in the culture. This process happens. Then there’s Kumar Vishwas. Every atom of his body is fixed and comes like that. He’s a very kind person, a boss and a child both together. Every second he wants to grab everything we’re talking”.
