Several people were killed and many injured after a blast in Kabul’s Shahr-e-Naw area, Taliban’s interior ministry said on Monday.“An explosion occurred in a hotel on Gulfaroshi Street in Shahr-e-Naw, the fourth district of Kabul city, causing casualties,” Kabul police spokesman Khalid Zadran said.As per local reports, the blast occurred infront of a Chinese restaurant.Spokesperson Abdul Mateen Qani told Reuters, “According to preliminary reports, a number of people were killed and injured.” Shahr-e-Naw, home to many foreigners, is usually considered one of Kabul’s most secure areas.In 2025, Kabul recorded two cases of suicide bombing. One person was killed and at least three others injured when an attacker tried to enter the ministry of urban development and housing in February. In the same week, five people were killed after a suicide bomber detonated explosives strapped to his body outside a bank in northeastern Afghanistan.While overall violence in Afghanistan has dropped since the Taliban regained control in 2021, the Islamic State (IS) remains a persistent threat, carrying out deadly attacks that undermine their authority.
