A deadly daytime Russian strike in Ukraine claimed at least two lives on Friday, a marked escalation termed as ‘Easter escalation’ by President Volodymyr Zelenskiy. This shift in Moscow’s tactics aims to bypass Ukrainian air defenses amid heightened hostilities.
Previously, Russia typically launched major drone and missile attacks at night. However, recent weeks have seen a surge in daytime assaults, including a record-breaking strike on March 24. On Friday, drones targeted residential and civil infrastructure in central Zhytomyr and Kyiv, resulting in casualties and widespread destruction.
The eastern Donetsk region witnessed further tragedy when a bomb strike in Kramatorsk claimed three lives. Despite President Zelenskiy’s proposal for an Easter ceasefire, Russia continues its aggressive campaign, further endangering civilians and infrastructure across Ukraine.
