Google AI Pro plan storage jumps to 5TB
Google has upgraded its Google AI Pro plan to include 5TB of cloud storage across Google Drive, Gmail and Google Photos, up from the earlier 2TB cap. The increase is rolling out to subscribers in India at no additional charge, with pricing unchanged at Rs. 1,950 per month or Rs. 19,500 per year.
The change was announced by Google One head Shimrit Ben‑Yair, who said the company was expanding Google AI Pro’s storage “from 2TB to 5TB, at no additional cost.” The extra space is likely to appeal to users backing up growing libraries of photos, 4K videos and large project files generated by modern AI tools.
AI tools bundled with Google AI Pro plan
Beyond storage, the Google AI Pro plan is positioned as an AI-first subscription that unlocks Google’s latest Gemini models and Deep Research on Gemini for advanced reasoning and summarisation. Subscribers can generate and edit videos with Google’s Veo models, including higher limits for converting images to video via Veo 2 in Whisk and limited access to the faster Veo 3 Fast on Vertex AI.
The plan also integrates Gemini into Google Docs, Sheets and Slides, bringing AI drafting and analysis tools directly into productivity workflows. Users get enhanced allowances in NotebookLM, with Google saying limits for creating Audio Overviews and notebooks can be up to five times higher than on standard tiers.
Google AI Pro plan perks for students and bundles
Google says the upgraded 5TB storage benefit applies to regular Google AI Pro subscribers as well as those onboarded through the Google Student Offer and Jio’s complimentary AI Pro subscription. Student users also receive 1,000 monthly AI credits to spend on text, image and video generation tasks across Flow and Whisk.
With the new storage allocation, AI Pro now sits in the middle of Google’s paid AI line-up: Google AI Plus offers 200GB of space at a far lower monthly price, while the AI Ultra tier jumps to 30TB and far higher AI usage limits for power users. The richer storage and bundled AI tools make the Google AI Pro plan a more compelling option for creators, professionals and students who are steadily generating more data, but do not want their subscription costs to climb in tandem.
