Health Update: Health Update: Generational Health & Beauty: A Holistic Approach to Wellness, Beauty, and Community – What Experts Say– What Experts Say.
“I’m originally from the Bronx,” Carol shared. “I came to Middletown a long time ago.” Her journey began when her mother sent her upstate to finish high school—an experience that ultimately shaped the life and community she would build.
Before becoming an entrepreneur, Carol worked for New York State at the Mid-Hudson Forensic Psychiatric Center. “I retired almost five years ago,” she said. A knee injury and time at home became a turning point. “My husband, for some reason, was ordering equipment that was collecting dust, so I started experimenting.”
Curious and motivated, Carol began researching holistic wellness. “I went on Google—researching, studying, and practicing is how I’m perfecting my craft,” she said. She is now a certified holistic health practitioner, bringing a whole-person approach to her services.
“I’m married. I have three sons. I have nine grandkids who mean the world to me. I hope to make them proud of all my accomplishments and to know hard work pays off.”

A space to relax
Today, she runs Generational Health & Beauty from a cozy spa room thoughtfully designed to create a peaceful escape. “I want you to come, relax, enjoy the moment, and leave your cares at the door,” she said.

Her signature deep cleansing facial is both a skincare treatment and a calming experience. “I cleanse, exfoliate… use the hot steam spray to open your pores while giving you a massage to help you relax even more,” she explained.
For Carol, the experience is shared. “While you’re relaxing, I’m relaxing,” she said. “I love it.”
Beauty from within
The name Generational Health & Beauty reflects her philosophy, even if it came together organically. “I don’t even know… but I just love it,” she said. “It means beauty, self-love, and taking care of yourself.”
For Carol, however, beauty goes far beyond appearances. “Beyond appearance, beauty is the pureness of your heart and soul,” she said.
Before entering the wellness space, Carol built a successful jewelry business, Glitz & Glam $5 Jewels, connecting with customers through online sales and live streams. “I used to do Facebook Lives three or four times a week,” she said.
That experience continues to shape her perspective today. “Jewelry and self-care go hand in hand,” she said. “A pair of earrings could make you feel beautiful… your face glowing, stress-free—it goes together.”
Giving back
Beyond her business, Carol is deeply rooted in community service. In honor of her mother, she founded the Naomi Cuevas Memorial Scholarship Fund, which has awarded 19 scholarships to Middletown High School students pursuing careers in the medical field. She is an active member of Latinos in Business Succeeding, the NAACP Middletown Chapter, and Business & Professional Women of Middletown. She also serves on the scholarship committee with HV Business Link, supporting efforts that uplift and honor the SUNY Orange Foundation.
“It just really fulfills me to be able to give back and help people,” she said. “It touches my heart… my soul.”
Her efforts extend to toy drives, food drives, book bag giveaways, and community events. “Just being kind… because it’s such a cruel world,” she said. “Helping somebody—anything—is important.”
That generosity has not gone unnoticed. “I have the best supporters,” Carol said. “People are willing to help because they know that I do it from my heart.”

Looking ahead
Looking ahead, she hopes to expand her business into a dedicated space. “Eventually I would like to have my own spot… nothing big,” she said. “Just to keep making women feel beautiful… giving them that hour of relaxation.”
For those considering starting their own business, her advice is simple and heartfelt: “Don’t let nobody stop your hustle. Just go for it… you have to believe in yourself… you have to have confidence.”
At the core of her work is a message that resonates with many in today’s fast-paced world: “Take time for yourself… even 15 minutes,” Carol said. “Just close your eyes… let go.”
Through her work, Carol Cuevas Howard is not only creating moments of beauty and relaxation—she is strengthening the fabric of the Hudson Valley community, one connection at a time.
