In a move to conserve natural resources, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has called for an increased use of municipal waste in road construction projects. Speaking at the 14th Annual Convocation Ceremony of the Asian Education Group, Gadkari emphasized the benefits of utilizing legacy waste from sites such as Delhi’s Ghazipur landfill.
The government has segregated 80 lakh tonnes of waste, using it in the construction of significant infrastructures like the Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Dehradun Expressways. This initiative is part of a broader effort to reduce the dependence on natural aggregates, promoting a more sustainable approach to infrastructure development.
Gadkari’s push for waste utilization not only addresses the pressing issue of waste management but also represents a significant stride towards eco-friendly practices in the road construction sector.
