The health and wellness of Chilliwack seniors is the focus of a day-long event coming to downtown Chilliwack next month.

It’s the first ever ‘Senior Wellness Day’ is slated for April 14, at the Chilliwack Activity Centre on College Street presented by the CCS Social Prescription Program.

“The whole idea is for seniors to have a meaningful interaction with healthcare providers,” said organizer by Leila Reshid, co-ordinator of social prescribing from Chilliwack Community Services.

Seniors can check out what’s available in terms of local resources by taking advantage of brief one-on-one sessions with providers at different stations.

There will be a pharmacist, a registered nurse to talk to as well as care aides taking vital signs of attendees, Reshid said.

Also confirmed in attendance at the event will be a dietician, an occupational therapist, and an expert in chronic health condition management.

Attending the event on a drop-in basis is free and there’s no registration required.

Light refreshments.
