Fans have been anxiously awaiting the release of Kanye’s album, “Bully,” since the rap star first teased it in September 2024 — and they got so close to their dreams coming true

Kanye West’s anticipated album did not hit streaming platforms at midnight, leaving fans heartbroken.

The controversial rapper began teasing “Bully” in September 2024, and fans thought he’d finally followthrough on his release promises. After all, just a day earlier, Kanye dropped the track list for the album in a handwritten note on Instagram. “BULLY ON THE WAY NO AI,” he wrote in the caption.

Plus, Kanye hosted listening parties across the world, including in Los Angeles, New York City, Atlanta, Seoul, Halfweg, N.L., Istanbul, and Chicago. The parties come after Kanye was found liable in a mansion mayhem lawsuit and ordered to pay six-figures.

The album wasn’t completely lost, though, as the listening parties did give fans a taste of the studio album. It also landed on YouTube to stream, but it was yanked offline shortly after. Bully didn’t drop on traditional streaming platforms like Spotify or Apple Music, which previously have had a shaky professional relationship with the musician.

In May 2025, Kanye released a song called Heil Hitler, criticized for its antisemitic messaging. Platforms like Spotify and SoundCloud originally published the song but removed it after the gravity of the situation emerged. Fans, though, were insistent to keep the track accessible, uploading the audio with their own cover images by embedding it in podcasts.

In the end “Heil Hitler” was removed from most major platforms as crackdowns from the company swept across their content. Both the song and music video were accessible on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The Mirror US contacted a representative for Kanye West for comment.

While his devoted fans were disappointed when the album didn’t have a wide release, they weren’t especially surprised. After all, “Bully” has been subject to an ever-growing range of release delays. The specifics of the holdback aren’t clear, but Kanye has released other projects since first teasing the “Bully” album, including the song “BIANCA,” after his wife, Bianca Censori, briefly split from him.

Given Kanye’s often sporadic and flippant attitude, fans laughed off his lack of followthrough on the album release. “Are you surprised ? It’s Kanye,” said one fan on X, alongside laughing emojis. Another said, “imagine trusting ye lmao.”

“Not surprised,” a third said while a fourth added, “What were you expecting??”

Nonetheless, the fans on Instagram were still deeply upset. “STOP BULLYING US WHERES THE COUNTDOWN GON YE,” said one person in reply to Kanye’s track list post.

Some were sympathetic for Kanye’s delay. “Dont worry ye, take your time dropping. Its okay if you delay the album to make this masterpiece work. Also you have shown AI is completely fine in music, dont be afraid to use some. Love you YE cant wait,” said one.
