It’s the end of an era for DJ Zeal.

The popular broadcaster, whose real name is Zandile Dladla, has officially announced her departure from Ukhozi FM after seven years behind the mic.

For many listeners, her voice became part of their daily routine. She hosted the “Fakumoya” show on Fridays from 8pm to 12am. Dladla also hosted “Ndabezinhle” on Sundays from 12am to 3am.

In a statement she shared on her Instagram feed, Dladla reflected on what the journey has meant to her, especially being able to broadcast in isiZulu.

“It has been an enlightening experience working for a public broadcaster with a public mandate and broadcasting in my mother tongue, isiZulu,” she said.

Her time at the station was not just about radio, but about connection. Broadcasting in isiZulu allowed her to reach audiences in a way that felt authentic and rooted in culture.

She added that the decision marks a new chapter. 

“I have previously worked for four highly commercial radio stations, all broadcasting in English. This part of the journey marks a powerful rebranding and transition into commercial – predominantly English broadcasting for me,” she added.

Before joining Ukhozi FM, the 38-year-old presenter had already built experience in commercial radio, and now she is returning to that space with a more defined sense of who she is as a broadcaster.

Over the years, she has built a strong brand for herself, earning industry recognition along the way. 

Her work on the radio has seen her receive two Telkom Radio Awards nominations and a win for Best Dance Radio Show for “Fakumoya” at the 2025 South African Dance Music Awards.

She also shared a message of gratitude to her colleagues and her supporters.

“I extend heartfelt gratitude to Ukhozi FM, my colleagues, and my loyal listeners and followers. However, there is a time for everything under the sun.”

While Dladla has not revealed exactly where she is heading next, her fans will have to wait and see what she does next.
