The Celebrity Traitors winner has bought the castle for his new Disney+ show, Castle Man
Alan Carr, winner of Celebrity Traitors, has revealed he has “genuinely” purchased a castle for his new Disney+ show. The 49-year-old comedian announced his plans to move from his current home to a castle in Scotland for the reality TV series Castle Man.
This decision came after he contemplated buying a castle during his stint on the BBC reality gameshow. Speaking at Advertising Week Europe in London, Carr shared: “Hopefully (people are) entertained and enjoying it, but also maybe see a side of me that they don’t normally see.”
He further clarified: “Because, what I want to say is, as well, I genuinely have bought the castle, and I saw some whisperings, they think, ‘oh no, yeah, yeah’, I get it, we’re used to seeing gimmicks on TV and going, ‘oh yeah, Disney+ have bought your castle’ – no, I bought the castle.
“I’m selling up, I’m moving up there, it’s genuine. There was in the paper that I’m turning it into a leisure centre and spa, I love the smell of chlorine in the house. It’s genuine… and my heart is going, it’s a lot of money and I’m moving up to Scotland… so it’s got to work.”
Carr explained the idea struck him whilst he was “mincing around” the Traitors castle during downtime on the show. He also expressed his desire to contribute to the local community through this project.
Carr shared: “I just fell in love with it, and I know you sound like a w*****r when say you’ve got a castle, but what I want to do with it, community-based, fun things, a real sense of getting a relationship with the community and stuff. I’ve got some wonderful ideas, it’s giving something back, that’s what excites me more.”
He revealed plans for community events at his castle, including dog shows, comedy, fetes, and humorously added he would also “judge the biggest courgette in the village”. The Weymouth-born celebrity mentioned he had been “offered loads of things after Traitors” but expressed a desire to do something that made people stop him in the street.
Carr emerged as the winner of The Celebrity Traitors last autumn in a thrilling series finale, tricking historian David Olusoga and actor Nick Mohammed into believing he was a Faithful. Alan bagged the £87,500 jackpot for his chosen charity, Neuroblastoma UK.
A release date for Castle Man, a show following Carr as he purchases the castle and attempts to run it, is yet to be announced. It comes as Alan and Amanda Holden are up for a 2026 Bafta TV nomination this year in the Entertainment Performance category.
The pair are up against Celebrity Traitor’s host Claudia Winkleman with their BBC One show Amanda & Alan’s Spanish Job up for nomination. Meanwhile, The Celebrity Traitors has been nominated for five awards in the 2026 Bafta TV Awards.
This includes Best Reality Show as well as P&O Cruises Memorable Moment Award, which is voted for by the public. The particular moment in question is Alan Carr winning the BBC One show.
