On Monday, Union Minister for Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, unveiled Andhra Pradesh’s largest shopping mall, developed on Visakhapatnam Port Authority land. The mall, expected to open to the public on March 27, emphasizes the government’s initiative to promote port-led urban development by unlocking commercial land potential.

Covering 16.3 acres, the facility will feature over 320 brands within a 1.4 million square feet built-up area. Additional attractions include an eight-screen multiplex set to be operational shortly. This project signifies a noteworthy investment in the region, aiming to enhance Visakhapatnam as a logistical hub and stimulate the local economy.

With expected direct employment for 2,500 to 3,000 people and additional indirect job opportunities, this venture underscores the strategic advantage of integrating transportation infrastructure and commercial development, thereby fostering robust economic growth. Significant investments totaling Rs 39,000 crore further signify the potential of such initiatives.
