TELLY fans panned the newest offering from ITV with one even labelling it “Temu version of The Traitors.”

Celebrity Sabotage sees big names such as, Joel Dommett, Judi Love, Sam Thompson and GK Barry try to foil the success of contestants on fake TV shows.

The celebs are given zany missions where they must sabotage the fake challenges of the unsuspecting contestants all while being directed by the other stars who are watching from a control room in ‘Celeb HQ’.

Examples of some of the stunts included Sam Thompson dressed in a suit of armour in a room with contestants who were filming a promo video and then sneakily replace the SD card in the camera when they were not there.

By successfully pulling off their mission, the celebs add to a prize point for the contestants, unbeknownst to them.

In the first episode of Celebrity Sabotage, former Dragons’ Den star Sara Davies stepped in to host The Applicant, a counterfeit version of BBC’s The Apprentice.

Celebrity Sabotage’s line up revealed – Love Islander & England footballer

The show premiere on ITV at 8pm on Saturday with many tuning in to give it a chance, but were left unimpressed.

“How has Saturday night entertainment come to this?” asked one person on X.

Another added: “Abysmal for prime time Saturday.”

And a third wrote: “Is this what prime time Saturday night television reduced itself too? Juvenile idiot, left-wing comedians paying their bills off our misery. Sterile for the TV how far we have fallen.”

But it was not all bad reviews, with some people admitting they were presently surprised.

“Some negative miseries complaining, lighten up. I loved it, funny, daft, Saturday night telly, a bit of a laugh, much needed in this miserable country and even more miserable platform,” wrote one person.

TV viewers may have been more invested in the show, if they realised how dangerous it got for The Masked Singer host, Joel Dommett.

He was hounded by an unlikely fan on set – a frisky pooch that wanted to devour him.

Describing one traumatising stunt, Joel said: “There was a Great Dane and I was dressed as dog toys.

“It’s genuinely one of the most frightening moments of my life. GK was there trying to distract the owner while I was dressed as dog toys, trying to get a collar off the dog without being noticed.

“The dog had a wig on! I was dressed as dog toys. Obviously, the dog just wanted to eat me. I nearly died!”

It’s one of the many wacky moments fans can expect from the series, a modern take on Nineties prank show Beadle’s About — which saw Jeremy Beadle playing practical jokes on the unsuspecting public.

Celebrity Sabotage is one of ITV’s most ambitious shows ever. Joel said: “It is absolute madness.

“It’s honestly the most I’ve laughed in ages.”

Upcoming episodes of Celebrity Sabotage will feature TV’s husband and wife team Matt and Emma Willis hosting a spoof series called Couple Goals and Rylan Clark presenting The Backstabs, inspired by The Traitors.
