A tragic incident unfolded as a young tigress met an untimely death allegedly due to electrocution in a village farm in Gundlupete taluk, close to Bandipur Tiger Reserve. The tigress, only one-and-a-half years old, was discovered by Forest Department officials after being fatally electrocuted.
Officials have blamed the incident on an unauthorized electric fence meant to protect crops on the farmland. According to the department, only solar fencing, which administers a non-lethal shock, is legally permissible. A thorough investigation is underway to determine the exact cause and circumstances of the electrocution.
Authorities confirmed that the landowner faces charges under the Wildlife Protection Act, highlighting illegal practices threatening wildlife. A senior official assured that stringent action would be taken upon the conclusion of the investigation and emphasized the importance of adhering to wildlife protection laws.
