A harrowing fire incident occurred in southwest Delhi’s Palam area, claiming the lives of nine family members, including three children, officials reported. Three more were injured as they tried to escape the inferno by leaping from the building in a desperate attempt to survive.
The ground and first floors of the five-storey edifice housed a cloth and cosmetic showroom, while the owner’s family resided on the higher levels. The local police received word of the blaze at 7:04 am and promptly dispatched teams to manage the crisis.
Rescue operations were intensified as firefighters worked through tight lanes amid billows of smoke. The fire, now extinguished, prompted the arrival of forensic experts to examine the scene and determine the fire’s origin. Investigations remain ongoing.
