Tech Explained: Here’s a simplified explanation of the latest technology update around Tech Explained: Datacom launches AI workplace simulation to spark interest in tech careers in Simple Termsand what it means for users..
Datacom has launched an “AI in the workplace” virtual work experience simulation which it says is designed to build confidence in critical tech skills and to help spark more interest in technology careers.
Hosted on virtual experience platform Forage, the new simulation is one of six free open-access job simulation courses developed by Datacom.
The “Partnering with AI in the workplace” simulation is designed to help learners build foundational skills in one of the fastest-growing areas of tech, said Datacom New Zealand managing director Peter Nelson.
“Given the rapid adoption of AI, we believe it is hugely important that people have the knowledge they need to embrace AI and use it to their advantage,” he said.
“Getting started early is hugely beneficial to those entering the workplace, where demand for AI skills is growing but internal training initiatives aren’t necessarily keeping pace.”
The latest module comes as Datacom’s AI research found 87 per cent of New Zealand organisations were using AI in their operations, but that AI training was lagging, Nelson said.
“Just 48 per cent of organisations had offered AI skills training within the last six months and a further 28 per cent said they were ‘planning to’,” he said.
“That level of skills training is well below where it needs to be.”
