Breaking Update: Here’s a clear explanation of the latest developments related to Breaking News:Golden from KPop Demon Hunters wins Oscar for best original song | Film– What Just Happened and why it matters right now.

Golden, one of the hits from KPop Demon Hunters, has become the first K-pop tune to win the best original song Oscar.

Ejae, 24, Ido and Teddy Park also became the first South Koreans to win in the category. While Ejae gave an emotional address, Mark Sonnenblick was cut off mid-speech.

The Oscar is the film’s second of the evening, following their victory in the best animated film category.

“For those of you who look like me, I’m so sorry that it took so long to see us in a movie like this, but it is here. That means the next generations don’t have to go longing,” said Maggie Kang, the film’s co-writer and co-director, receiving that award. “This is for Korea and Koreans everywhere.”

The song beat songs from Sinners, Train Dreams, Viva Verdi! and Diane Warren: Relentless – the last of these meaning that Warren has extended her record-breaking Oscars losing streak after failing to convert her 17th nomination into a win.

Warren, 69, was first in contention in 1987 for the song Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now from Mannequin and received eight consecutive nominations between 2018 and 2025.

Her other songs include Aerosmith’s I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing from Armageddon and Lady Gaga’s Til It Happens to You from The Hunting Ground. In 2022, Warren was presented with an honorary Oscar.

This year, Warren was in contention for the song Dear Me, performed by Kesha, which features in the documentary Diane Warren: Relentless.
