JoJo Siwa has issued a response to her former partner after their controversial split following her time on Celebrity Big Brother.

The reality TV show is never short on drama and it attracted plenty of it on the latest series, with the former child star forced to deal with some homophobic abuse aimed at her by Mickey Rourke, something which later saw him ordered to leave.

Siwa, who uses ‘any pronouns’, was in a public relationship with Kath Ebbs when she entered the show but quickly became close with fellow housemate Chris Hughes, the former Love Island contestant turned TV host.

The singer had previously spoken about how she felt pressured to come out as a lesbian, and suggested that her sexuality was more fluid than that.

This became even more apparent when, soon after the show ended, Siwa split up with Ebbs and began a relationship with Hughes, something which saw her face huge backlash from the queer community.

Speaking to the Daily Mail nearly a year from the show ending, Siwa has now spoken about her old relationship for the first time since going public with 33-year-old Hughes.

She said: “They’re in a thriving relationship by the looks of it, which makes me very happy. And I’m thriving in my life and very happy. I think they’ve moved on wonderfully and I know I have.”

Siwa also spoke candidly about the hate and death threats she received after her and Chris went public with their romantic relationship.

She admitted: “I was shocked. I thought it would have been a beautiful thing because I thought the gays would have said, ‘Hey, cool.’ We preach ‘love is love’ as a community, and I thought this might actually help some people who don’t support the LGBTQIA community to go, ‘Well, she’s loved women, she’s loved men – I guess I’m OK with it then.’

“I was excited about that, but then it was my own community that turned on me.”

While she suggests that she had never questioned her feelings towards boys, there was something about Chris that ‘felt right’ to the former Dance Moms star.

She added: “I didn’t think I’d ever fall for a man. I have wonderful boys that are friends and I’ve never questioned my feelings towards them.

“But I loved Chris and his energy and it felt so right. I could be around him and never get bored, never get tired. When I am tired he’s the only one I want to speak to.”

Ebbs also gave their thoughts on the matter after revealing that they were dumped at the Celebrity Big Brother party.

They said: “I feel so numbed out right now and so disorientated that I feel like the only thing I have to do to place this situation is to finally address it after two weeks of sitting back watching certain things unfold and not being able to get any clarity from the person that it involved.

“It seems to me I have experienced a version of [love bombing]. Being told I’m the love of someone’s life, being asked to marry them before this social experiment.

“Being adored throughout behind closed doors. Being hurt by what I saw but wanting to work through it and have a conversation and get clarity.”

“To be met with, yeah, being further humiliated in a weird way. That’s more of a feeling, I don’t know if it’s fact,” they explained.

Things turned out ok for both in the end though, with Siwa very much ‘in love’, while Ebbs announced their engagement back in December.
