WATERTOWN — A Watertown man was charged by state police on multiple felony charges related to child sexual exploitation.
Steven A. Tavani, 19, of Watertown, was charged with promoting a sexual performance by a child and one count of possessing a sexual performance by a child, both are felonies.
State police say the investigation is from an Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force investigation, which involved the transmission of child sexual abuse material over the internet.
According to state police, a search warrant executed at Tavani’s residence found multiple electronic devices belonging to Tavani that contained images and videos depicting child sexual exploitation material.
The joint investigation was done by the Troop D Computer Crimes Unit, Watertown’s state police Bureau of Criminal Investigation, and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force in Albany.
Tavani was transported to CAP Court for arraignment and remanded to the jail in lieu of $5,000 cash, $10,000 bond, or a $20,000 partially secured bond.
