Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has unveiled a new amphibious excavator, a pivotal tool in the fight against pollution for the Najafgarh drain. This innovative machinery is expected to enhance cleanup efforts.
During her ground inspection in the Badusarai area, Gupta emphasized the importance of the latest technological advancements by the Irrigation and Flood Control department, stating that efficient silt and garbage removal will significantly enhance the drainage system.
The Najafgarh drain stands as a primary contributor to the Yamuna’s pollution. Reports suggest that up to 1 crore metric tonnes of silt are present, which underscores why initiatives like this are critical for environmental rejuvenation.
