A male tiger was tranquilized and captured by forest department teams in Ranthambore after it ventured into agricultural fields, raising concerns over increased territorial pressures. On Monday evening, it was spotted in Ramsinghpura village fields before being contained by officials.
The Ranthambore Tiger Reserve, renowned for conservation success, is now encountering challenges due to its burgeoning tiger population. The reserve’s estimated 70 tigers exceed the habitat’s capacity, which wildlife experts believe can sustain only 40-50 tigers, underscoring the need for strategic habitat management.
Suggestions from experts include expanding habitat connectivity, strengthening wildlife corridors, and relocating some tigers. Safety concerns have also risen in tourist areas, highlighted by recent incidents of tiger attacks in the reserve.
