Health Update: Health Update: Onslow Memorial Hospital to host free “Hop Into Health” wellness event March 22 – What Experts Say– What Experts Say.

Onslow Memorial Hospital is inviting families across the community to “Hop Into Health” at its 3rd Annual wellness event on Sunday, March 22, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The free, family-friendly event is designed to connect residents with essential health screenings, educational resources, and local organizations — all in a welcoming and fun atmosphere.

Health screenings will take place inside the Onslow Memorial Outpatient Rehabilitation Center and will include:

  • Stroke screenings (blood pressure, glucose, and cholesterol)
  • Body mass index (BMI)
  • Hearing screenings
  • Skin cancer screenings
  • Breast cancer screenings
  • Prostate screenings
  • Take-home colorectal screening kits

Outside on the front lawn, families can enjoy community resource tables, interactive activities, face painting, food trucks, and the popular Easter Egg Hunt.

“We provide essential services to our community not only at the hospital through our traditional service lines, but also as an anchor of health and a champion for disease prevention to help build a healthier community,” said Dr. Penney Burlingame Deal, President and CEO of Onslow Memorial Hospital. “Our mission with Hop Into Health, and in all our community outreach, is to improve access to quality healthcare and continue to advocate for and empower our community.”

Several community organizations will be on site, including the Onslow County Health Department, Onslow Community Paramedics, United Way, OHLA, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Ameritas, New River YMCA, Evergreen Prosthetics and Orthotics, Jacksonville Police Department, Onslow Women’s Center, Onslow County Cooperative Extension, Johnsons Funeral Home, 5 Star Nutrition, and Marine Credit Federal Credit Union.

Two Easter Egg Hunts are scheduled:

  • 2:00 p.m. for ages 0–3 (parental assistance allowed)
  • 2:45 p.m. for ages 4–8 (no parental assistance)

Participants are encouraged to bring a basket or bag for collecting eggs.
