Sanjay Raut, a key figure in Shiv Sena (UBT), has expressed strong criticism of India’s foreign policy in light of the ongoing conflict involving the US, Israel, and Iran. In his column ‘Rokthok’ in the Sena mouthpiece Saamana, he stated that India is merely acting as an agent of the US and Israel, rather than leading efforts to cease hostilities.
Raut noted that India’s leadership appears hollow, as it has failed to speak out or take significant action amidst the growing tensions in West Asia. He highlighted the silence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as particularly troubling, arguing that the current approach significantly undermines India’s global relevance.
The conflict has had major repercussions, including destabilizing markets and disrupting air travel. Despite the deaths of prominent Iranian figures, Raut commended Iran’s ongoing resistance. He reported that India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri visited the Iranian Embassy to pay respects after the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, marking India’s limited engagement in the situation.
