The village of Hebron has launched a nonprofit seeking to boost the area’s economy and help support businesses through community-driven plans.

The Hebron Trailblazers Community Improvement Corp. will strategically partner with the village to enhance residents’ quality of life and Hebron’s economy, the village said in a news release. It is designed to be a collective effort among business owners, residents and other community leaders who are committed to helping preserve Hebron’s “heart, heritage and small-town pride,” the release states.

The nonprofit also aims to serve businesses and residents. The organization plans to launch several programs, including a small business façade improvement effort to enhance commercial corridors, according to the release. Another involves encouraging residents to volunteer and engage with neighborhoods.

It will also offer small business training and workforce-related efforts to help support local businesses and develop beautification plans. The village said the organization’s broader mission is to foster connection among the community and long-term sustainability.

“The Village’s support of this effort reflects our shared vision for thoughtful, responsible growth,” Hebron Mayor Valerie Mockus said in the release. “We are excited to see this new organization bring additional energy and resources to Hebron.”

A board of directors lead the nonprofit. Hebron Economic and Community Development Director Brittany Misner will serve as president of the board while Beth Moore serves as vice president. There are a community advisory board and subcommittees that residents can participate in, and the board’s next meeting is 9 a.m. March 19 at Lulu’s Coffee, 118 E. Main St. in Hebron.

The organization is developing an action plan for its first year and is seeking feedback from residents and business owners to help identify priorities. Elements of the plan include launching mural and landscaping projects, strategies involving industrial park development and property acquisition and applying for grants to help fund those efforts, Mockus said.
