The ‘last ties’ between Ant McPartlin and his ex-wife Lisa Armstrong were finally cut following the death of their beloved dog Hurley.

Lisa Armstrong has jetted off to the US to get over the heartbreak of losing her beloved dog a couple of weeks ago, which close friends have said was the “last tie” cut between Lisa and her ex Ant McPartlin. The former couple had a messy split back in 2018, with their dog Hurley at the centre of the custody battle.

Sadly, it was announced last week 12-year-old Hurley passed away, which left Lisa “beyond heartbroken” according to her pals. Following their divorce, it was reported either Lisa or her mother would meet up with Ant to exchange the dog as they shared joint custody.

However, with his sad passing, the former couple will no longer need to be in contact with the other. A source said: “Contrary to reports the pair never saw each other, they used to meet up to hand over Hurley and naturally it could be strained, although they tried to keep things civil. With Hurley’s death, the last ties of marriage has been cut.”

In photos seen in the Mirror today, February 26, the 49-year-old has flown to LA to be with Craig Young and his partner. Lisa and Craig used to be in a pop band called Deuce, which was popular in the 90’s with songs like Call It Love and I Need You.

It is understood Lisa is expected to be in the US for a few weeks, with the trip coming after she reportedly recently split from her younger actor boyfriend, Grant Kilburn. Ant, 50, has also been seen to have flown abroad since their dog’s death.

The last time the former couple saw each other was when Ant rushed to join Lisa at the vets as they made the decision to put Hurley down. The TV presenter was said to have abruptly left the launch event for Britain’s Got Talent to make it in time.

At the time, a source told the press: “The one thing they both loved was that dog. The dog brought them together and was like an anchor. Lisa has been very hurt by Ant, but they were able to put that behind them in the vet’s office. It was a truce.”

Another insider added the passing of their beloved pet may help Lisa and Ant to heal some of their old wounds.

They said: “There were tears and they both realised that it’s been a long time and life is so short. Hopefully they can move on now.”

Lisa’s newest romance was said to be brief as just last month reports described Lisa as “happier than ever” with Grant, 34, who had been on tour in the play 2:22 A Ghost Story. However a source revealed they called time on their relationship earlier this month, saying: “It’s very sad but it wasn’t to be.”
