The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star and husband Robert Cosby Sr. confirmed his death in an Instagram post.

“Our beloved son Robert Jr. has been called home to the Lord,” the parents shared in a statement Wednesday.
“Though our hearts ache, we take comfort in God’s promise and in knowing he is finally at peace,” they added. “We are grateful for your prayers and trust in the Lord to carry us through this time of sorrow.”
Cops called for possible OD
Robert died on Monday in Utah after officers responded to a possible overdose call about a “full arrest/medical emergency” of a 23-year-old male who was “not conscious” and “not breathing,” according to police dispatch audio obtained by the New York Post.
He was given one dose of opioid countermeasure Narcan and another three units were ordered to the location, but by the time they arrived, the overdose call had “turned into a death investigation.”

His sobriety discussed on show
The topic of his sobriety had been discussed on the reality show, with Robert Jr. first opening up about his struggle with drug addiction in an emotional conversation with his mother during the fifth season, which aired in November 2024.
Robert Jr. admitted to Mary at the time that he had been using both prescription and recreational drugs since he was 16, after first trying Xanax at a party, per Us Weekly.
He also revealed that he had used Adderall and OxyContin, taking as many as 10 at once, and when his addiction worsened, he told his mom that he tried heroin, which made him want to “die.”

“I felt like a stain — I just felt like this world wasn’t for me,” Robert Jr. told his mom in the episode. “You’re the only reason I didn’t kill myself.”
In December 2024, Mary shared on the show that Robert Jr., who was 21 at the time, completed a month-long stay in rehab.
“He completed it. He did an excellent job. He came out a new person.”
Divorce, run-ins with the law
Robert Jr.’s death comes months after his wife, Alexiana Smokoff, who he secretly married in 2022, filed for divorce.
In September 2025, Robert Jr. was arrested on multiple charges, including assault and trespassing, after he allegedly tried to break into his father-in-law’s house, where Smokoff was staying at the time, TMZ reported.
He was also arrested for DUI in 2022, a charge to which he later pleaded guilty.
Mary addressed Robert Jr.’s most recent arrest at the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Season 6 reunion last month.
She said she was “not worried about him,” and added, “I know he’s somewhere where he’s not using.”
Mary noted that she had to “step back” so that her son could “learn.”
She continued: “Unfortunately he’s learning the hard way, but I’m OK with it. It’s just, you don’t wanna see your kid suffer, but I know it’s good, and I’d rather him be there than dead.”
