Martin Short has postponed three shows of his comedy tour with Steve Martin following news of his daughter’s death.

Katherine Short, one of three adopted children of Short and his late wife, actress Nancy Dolman, died Monday at age 42.

TMZ reported that she died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
All the scheduled February dates for The Best of Steve Martin & Martin Short have been postponed, Variety reported.
The two comedians were expected to start their joint tour on Friday in Milwaukee at the Miller High Life Theatre.
“Due to unforeseen circumstances, Steve Martin and Martin Short’s show, originally scheduled for Friday, February 27th in Milwaukee, has been postponed,” a message on the venue’s website read. “Tickets will be honoured for a future rescheduled date.”
The Only Murders in the Building stars were also scheduled to perform two shows at Minneapolis’ Orpheum Theatre on Saturday.

A similar message notifying attendees of the postponement was also posted on the venue’s website.
The comedy duo’s U.S. tour has 11 shows that run into October.
Variety noted that the next show on March 13 at the Dar Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C., did not have a delay notice.
Short’s daughter was a mental health expert
Katherine Short was a social worker and therapist, specializing in treating anxiety, depression and suicidality.
She worked at UCLA’s Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital for four years and later at the Camden Center’s outpatient program.
She was an advocate for mental health and worked with charity Bring Change 2 Mind to reduce the stigma around mental illness.
Family ‘devastated’ by her death
A representative for Martin Short released a statement announcing Katherine’s death.
“The Short family is devastated by this loss and asks for privacy at this time. Katherine was beloved by all and will be remembered for the light and joy she brought into the world,” the statement said.
