Former “America’s Next Top Model” judge, Kelly Cutrone, has fired back at Jay Manuel after his claims about Tyra Banks following the release of the new Netflix docuseries, “Reality Check: Inside America’s Next Top Model”.

Cutrone, who served as the permanent panellist on the reality show for cycles 18 through 22, addressed Manuel’s critique of Banks in the docuseries. 

Manuel claimed that the supermodel host refused to interact with him on set after he voiced his desire to depart the series following cycle 8.

“Side note – Jay never even worked in the fashion industry. He worked at a MAC make-up counter in Toronto. Tyra boosted him, and how did he repay her?  By writing a novel about her and the show (which no one bought),” she wrote.

Cutrone also threw shade at Manuel by adding that he is trying to stay relevant using Bank’s name and alleged that Manuel is no different from Banks because he was also rude to her.

“He was so incredibly rude to me on my first day on the show. He comes up to me and said ‘Welcome to the show, you are in the ejector seat (meaning anyone who sat in that seat),” she added.

The three-part docuseries is full of piping hot tea, with many of the interviewees slamming Banks and fellow executive producer Ken Mok for the toxic atmosphere, torturous makeovers, tone deaf photo shoots and dangerous runways.

Many of the featured former participants revisit the time when their lives were supposedly going to “change for the better”. Instead, they were left with trauma and anxiety that was instilled in them by the production.

While Manuel, as well as other prominent figures of the reality show, also told their stories, the blame was mostly put on Banks for creating such a hostile environment.

Manuel and Miss J. Alexander, who had more than a working relationship with Banks, alleged that they had not been in contact with Banks since they were fired on the show after the viewership numbers plummeted.

Miss J. Alexander also added that he suffered a stroke in 2022, and Banks has never even come to check how he was doing till today.
