Romance doesn’t have to stop after Valentine’s Day.
Travel + Leisure created a list of the most romantic places in the United States, featuring one for each state; the lifestyle magazine picked one charming destination for Massachusetts lovebirds to visit.
“To inspire you, we’ve rounded up the most romantic places across the country: scenic state parks with beautiful proposal-worthy backdrops, charming urban escapes for those looking to enjoy city sights, and quirky attractions where you’re sure to create lifelong memories,” the lifestyle magazine Travel + Leisure said.
Here’s how you can visit the most romantic place in Massachusetts, according to Travel + Leisure.
Public Garden — Boston, Massachusetts
Travel + Leisure said that Boston’s Public Garden in the capital’s downtown area is the Commonwealth’s most romantic spot.
“You’ll see swans (both real and in sculpted paddleboat form) and plenty of scenery at this destination, which was established in 1837 as the first public botanical garden in the U.S.,” the lifestyle website said.
The prestigious magazine also recommended staying at the Four Seasons in Boston to get a quality view of the garden from the comfort of a hotel room.
If you’re interested in riding a swan boat in the lagoon of the Public Garden with your significant other, you’ll have to wait for Saturday, April 18, 2026, which is the first day of their operating season, according to the Swan Boats website.
“The Paget family has preserved this tradition for almost 150 years, maintaining the charm and integrity of a vision that became a reality for a young boat builder and his wife,” the website said. “They are the only boats of their type in the world and are an important symbol of the wonderful City of Boston.”
And before you ask about whether you can pick the beautiful flowers in the Public Garden and give them to your special someone, the Friends of the Public Garden website said that you cannot for the sake of the other guests’ enjoyment.
