High-speed underwater train to connect Dubai & Mumbai in just 2 hours! Faster than air travel, boosting trade & tourism.
A groundbreaking project to build a high-speed underwater train connecting Dubai and Mumbai has been proposed, offering a travel time of just two hours between the two cities. The train will travel at speeds ranging from 600 km/h to 1000 km/h and is capable of carrying both passengers and goods, including fuel.
Currently, it takes about four hours to fly from the UAE to India, but this new underwater train will drastically cut that time by half. The project, presented by the UAE National Advisor Bureau Limited, is expected to have several benefits, including environmental advantages and reduced reliance on air travel. Additionally, it will enhance trade between India and the UAE, especially in the transportation of goods like crude oil.
The train could also facilitate the transport of essential resources such as drinking water from India to the UAE. Abdullah Al Shehi, the chief consultant at the National Advisor Bureau Limited, emphasised that this venture would benefit not only India and the UAE but also the countries along the rail route, improving both travel and freight services.
While the concept offers immense potential, there are challenges ahead, particularly in establishing a high-speed rail network under the sea. Feasibility studies, inspections, and cooperation between the countries along the route, along with massive investment, will be required to bring the project to life.
The proposed rail line will span 2000 km, connecting Dubai and Mumbai. If approved by both governments, the authorities aim to complete the construction and begin operations by 2030. Passengers will also be able to enjoy scenic views of the deep sea during their journey, adding an extra layer of appeal to the travel experience.
