This new functionality, termed ‘Direct Connect’, utilises Bluetooth technology to facilitate simpler audio capture, reducing the number of components necessary for operation.
The Wireless Go is widely recognised as one of Rode’s leading lavalier microphones. This compact device features advanced 320-bit float audio backup recording capabilities alongside built-in omnidirectional microphones. Additionally, it supports the connection of external microphones via a 3.5 mm input. Its counterpart, the Wireless Pro, builds on these innovations by incorporating timecode synchronization that simplifies audio syncing during post-production. It also boasts an extended line-of-sight transmission range of up to 260 metres, ensuring reliable audio capture even over greater distances.
The Direct Connect feature was initially rolled out with the Rode Wireless Micro, allowing it to pair directly with iPhones through the Rode Capture app. With a recent firmware update available from today, users of the Wireless Go and Wireless Pro can now take advantage of the same capability. This update allows the devices to deliver audio through the Capture app using two modes: merged mode combines audio from multiple transmitters into a single stereo track, while split mode enables separate recording for each transmitter, offering greater flexibility for audio post-production.
